Composite Stone

Fast becoming the specifiers' preference as a vast colour, glass, mirror and aggregate choice is available. Technically known as Resinous Agglomerate, the natural aggregate stone is either Marble, Granite or Quartz base. The production is highly technical with large formwork blocks produced and cured under controlled conditions. Thereafter the cutting of the block into 'scants' (sheets 10-30mm) polishing and cut to format is very similar to that of traditional stones. The product is extremely water sensitive. The background/base should be dried adequately with water content ratio or RH levels checked and agreed with the relevant supplier. Again consult the supplier and adhesive manufacturer to ensure the correct adhesive and grout is specified. Latex based adhesives, no water, should be used generously with two part polyurethane products inparticular for the green & red based agglomerates. White powder adhesives should be used for the Bianco or light coloured agglomerates. Check lead-in times for material as, due to popular worldwide demand, average lead-in time is 6-8 weeks.
