Full design, supply and installation of the feature wall, reception floor, desk top, columns & feature stairs in the reception area of Southbank Place building 6 & 7.
Stone & Ceramic have thoroughly enjoyed working with Canary Wharf Contractors at the Southbank Place project. Stone & Ceramic’s scope of work in the reception area of residential buildings 6 & 7 includes design, supply and install to the 3D Moleanos stone feature wall including the New Saint Laurent surround and the metal frame support behind the wall. The Fior Di Bosco book-matched floor, 15 Moleanos clad columns, the Statuarietto desk top & the Statuario feature staircase. Various stone factory visits were made to Lisbon & Verona with the client to view and select their choice of stones for the reception area.
The 3D Moleanos stone feature wall really is a show-stopper! 3.3 metres high, 6.9 metres wide with a calculated load of 5 tons. The feature wall is made up of 16 separate 3D Moleanos stone geometric blocks with four different finishes including polished, ribbed, honed and bush hammered to emphasise the 3D shapes. All 16 pieces fit together seamlessly with a Portland Limestone mix that matches the rest of the stones perfectly creating an illusion of no joints. The Dark New Saint Laurent border gives an excellent contrast to the Moleanos stone & finishes the whole feature wall off perfectly.
The steel wind-post frame supporting the 5 ton feature wall was also designed by Stone & Ceramic’s in-house engineer. PFC steel posts were braced back and anchored to concrete substrate at interval height levels and secured top and bottom using 12mm anchor bolts.
The 65m2 reception floor is Italian sourced book-matched Fior Di Bosco marble in the format of 1000 x 600, 20mm thickness with a polished finish. The custom-made desk top is Italian sourced 20mm thick Statuarietto marble spanning a total length of 4.7 metres finished with contrasting bronze panelling.
The 15 columns in the reception area are cladded in 30mm thick Moleanos limestone with 8 columns towering to 6.9 metres tall. The grand Statuario marble staircase in the reception area sourced in Verona, spans 3 levels with a total of 60 treads and risers with 4 landings at intermediate points. The riser stones were designed by our in-house design team to incorporate an LED down light so that each tread stone is illuminated to highlight the beauty of this material.
